Bio:
Kristian Smith is an entrepreneur, inventor, and disability advocate dedicated to creating innovative tools that restore independence and dignity to people with limited mobility. After surviving a life-changing car accident at age 22 that left him paralyzed from the chest down, Kristian transformed adversity into purpose. His lived experience navigating daily challenges led him to invent the Dual Utensil, an adaptive feeding tool designed to help individuals with disabilities feed themselves with greater ease. Building on this invention, Kristian founded Handicap-able Tools, a company focused on developing practical, accessible products that empower people to live more independently. He brings creativity, resilience, and a problem-solver’s mindset to every tool he designs. Kristian is committed to inclusive innovation and believes adaptive tools should empower—not limit—the people who rely on them. His achievements include earning the United by Purpose: A Challenge for Equality for All Award, the Advanced Leadership Certification, and the Executive Leadership Certification from the National Society of Leadership and Success. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Driven by purpose, Kristian aims to expand accessibility solutions, amplify the voices of people with disabilities, and prove that creativity can change lives.
