Since childhood, Mary has struggled with the demons in her head who are always pulling her down. Her anxiety has held her back and she was making moves to change that from preventing her from living her life. Her mind became her inspiration for her artwork, her dreams and visions painted as a positive release from the negativity from her mental illness. She had initially started out as drawing out her dreams, and then she learned to paint through the Holy Comforter’s Friendship Center. They taught her how to paint which she has continued through the medium of acrylic paint. As well as her dreams, she has painted animals, however she feels her main form of art is expressed through flowers, which she describes as her style and could be considered her signature in her paintings.
Through her art, she will illustrate her heart and thought process. So, don’t judge her by her diagnosis but by her impeccable work. Apart from painting, she loves animals and doing yoga. She is also a member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), she feels like a mentor for people with mental illness and wants to be an advocate for people with mental illness as a life coach in order to show that despite her diagnosis and struggling, she is able to live life as a normal person, each day pushing through.
2021 Update: Launched her own business- Schitz Revelations (I am valued too) to put her paintings and ideas on T-shirts and other merchandize to be the voice of people who are disabled and mentally ill.
